Drawing inspiration from the Backyard Ultra Series, the SCS Schoolyard Challenge will follow a 5km route through Southern Cross Schools’ “bush” backyard and classroom “circles”, where the facilities, learners’ work, and the wildlife are on the school property will be on display.

The challenge is all about getting outdoors and celebrating the school and its environment. The run will form the backbone of a festive family morning. Spectators can cheer on the runners as they pass through the starting and finishing area, and there will be additional entertainment to keep spirits up over the five hours. Food, drinks and snacks will be on sale, there will be a supervised children’s play area at the pre-school, a “beer garden”, the SCS drummers, bush walks around the property and more. Classrooms around the school will also be open and everyone will be welcome to have a look around the school.
